  • STUDENTS’ ASSOCIATIONS
    • The Students’ Scientific Society
    • Students' Scientific Society of Medical University in BialystokThe Students’ Scientific Society is an organization of medical students and interns engaged in the work of Students’ Scientific Circles operating in almost all departments of the University. They carry out laboratory experiments /in vitro and on animals/, conduct clinical research and acquire practical skills. All this usually leads to preparing scientific papers/ results of research work, demonstrative, case histories /which are later on presented at student conferences, both home and abroad. Some of the students are  co-authors of publications  in Polish and foreign professional journals. Active participation in the activities is often a departure point for future careers in the field of science, and a significant  part of one’s CV.

      The chief event organized by the Students’ Scientific Society is the annual  Conference of Polish Medical Students,   hosting an average of several hundred  participants from our University and from medical schools in Poland, Belarus and Lithuania.  

    • The Students’ Board of Representatives  
    • The International Federation of Medical Students` Associations  IFMSA
    • IFMSA is an organisation associating medical students and young doctors. It is independent, apolitical, non-govermental, nonprofit association. It belongs to International Federation of Medical Students' Associations.

      In Poland the associations has been working since 1956 as PolMSIC. It has belonged to IFMSA since 1957. In 2000 the name of the association was changed to IFMSA-Poland.

      The association has Local Committees on every medical university in Poland (including Our University in Bialystok).

    • The Polish Dental Students Association (PTSS)
    • Polish Dental Students Association, was founded in 1997 in Wroclaw. The main goal of association is to create the structures that represent Dentistry students and look after their business in different areas. We are a member of IADS (International Association of Dental Students), that co-operates with FDI, UNESCO and APDSA (Asia-Pacific Dental Students Association). PTSS is particularly active in eight academic centers: Wroclaw, Poznań, Białystok, Zabrze, Kraków, Lublin, Lódz, Gdansk and is going to widen its contact with other Polish Medical Academies.  

    • The University Sport Association
    • The Department of Physical Education performs teaching in physical culture for  first and second year students and organizes workouts for  all volunteer students from other years.

      Our sports base includes a sports hall with a fitness club and sauna, gymnasium in Dormitory #1 with a table tennis room, tennis court, sports field adjacent to Dormitory #1 and also “Gola Zoska”, a holiday centre on Rospuda Lake near Augustów.
      Our sports sections consist of approx. 150 students who participate in intercollegiate league, Polish Medical Universities League and Polish Academic Championship matches. The results of this participation place our students in top positions thanks  to many outstanding sportsmen.

  • STUDENTS’ LIFE
    • The University Choir
    • Click to enlargeThe Choir of the Medical University of Bialystok was founded in 1951 by a group of students of medicine – music lovers. It belongs to the category of mixed choirs and consists both of students of the Medical Academy and young doctors. The repertoire contains not only great oratorio works but also sacred and secular a`capella compositions, ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary times, including some first performances. The Choir’s repertoire also includes operas: H. Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas performed with soloists from the Warsaw Chamber Opera, on tricentenary of the composer’s death.

      For many years the Choir has taken part in numerous international festivals and competitions as well as in prestigious charity concerts both in Poland and abroad.

      The Choir has given concerts in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Hungary, Holland, Ireland, Israel, Lithuania, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia.

      The group has made several recordings for Polish, Irish, Belgian and Danish Radio, Polish TV, Belgian TV (RTBF), TV Thessalia (Greece). Their performance of Schubert’s Mass in E flat major accompanied by the Belgian Medical Orchestra was issued on compact disc by ‘Ars Medica pro Humanitate’. The Choir cooperates with the Bialystok Philharmonic Orchestra on a regular basis. It has also given concerts with symphony orchestras from Szczecin, Kielce and Jelenia Gora, as well as with the Warsaw Conservatory Orchestra, the Louvain University Orchestra, l’Orchestre de Chambre de Geneve, the Belgian Symphony Orchestra ‘Vita et Musica’ and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra in Denmark.

      The Artistic Director and Conductor of the Choir of the Medical Academy is Prof. Bozena Sawicka, the dean of the Faculty at the F.Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Branch in Bialystok.

    •  “Co Nie Co” Club
      The  „CO NIE CO”  student club came into being some forty five years ago. Over the time, it has been involved in organizing cultural occasions and providing entertainment for our students and from other schools in the city.
    • Clik to enlargeThe pride of our club is  “Schodki”   /”The Stairs”/,  a cabaret that presents   scenes from  student life in a witty and humorous way.  New shows are produced and performed three times a year.  Lately, the group has been invited  several times to give guest performances in “Gwint”, a student club at Bialystok Polytechnic,  and other places as well.

      If you feel like having some fun after a hard week’s work, a Friday night out at the disco could be a good idea.  The music there will surely satisfy everyone’s taste and  you can have a great time  spontaneously joining those on the dance floor.

      Apart from that, there is a mini debating film club,  organizing Saturday projections of latest releases and cult movies.

    • “Herculesy” Club
    • The “Herkulesy” Club has a tradition as long as forty years. Throughout this time, it has been popular with students of all higher schools in the city.

      The club has undergone renovation recently. The dominating colours now are warm, friendly orange with contrasting navy blue. The club is a place where everybody will find something for themselves. House, hip hop, rock and dance music is played there by the best Polish DJ’s. The service is superb.

    • “Radiosupel”
    • Having been listened to since 1951,  our radio is almost as old as our University and is  the oldest student radio organization in Poland.

      Radio broadcasts are fully prepared  by students  and aired Monday through  Thursday between 7 – 10 p.m. The materials include: stories, interviews, talks and coverage of special events.

      At lunch time, students can enjoy their meals in the canteen  listening to a mix of the best Polish and foreign hits alternating with current announcements from students’ organizations and school authorities.

      Sport activities

      The Department of Physical Education gives many students and graduates the opportunity to snatch some rest from school and hard work and experience the feeling of relax.

      With fair winds you can enjoy a summer sailing holiday at our student holiday centre near Augustów. Sportsmen are welcome to go camping,  but cycling trips, table tennis and  beach volleyball are also waiting for those who prefer less energetic activities. Your state of health and general fitness are improved through sport. Your faulty posture can be corrected at locomotor  classes . Your gait will become more energetic and our training will help you to lose some weight. With the individual training scheme and gym equipment you can shape your body. You can also obtain a sailing and skiing license, gain some knowledge and motor skills. Students , who like extreme sports, are offered rock climbing training on our artificial rock supervised by our experienced school colleagues. All aerobics enthusiasts will enjoy the unforgettable time with music.

      Our Department has the following sports equipment: skis, tents, canoes, sailing boats, windsurfing boards and mountain bikes. They can certainly help you to develop your skills and fulfill your dreams.

  • Contract Letter Concerning the Co-operation between the Medical Faculty of the
    University of Vilnius (Lithuania) and the Medical University of Bialystok
    - signed 18th February 2003.

    Both contracts envisage cooperation in the following fields:

    1. Formation on the basis of the Medical University of Bialystok of "Euroregional Medical Centre for Research and Education"
    2. Exchange of official lecturers, young physicians and students
    3. Exchange of research techniques and Editorial Notes
    4. Co-operation between libraries

  • Contract Letter Concerning the Co-operation between the Medical Faculty of the
    University of Duisburg - Essen (Germany) and the Medical University of Bialystok
    - signed 31st January 2003.


    Cooperation will embrace the following issues:

    1. AnnualJoint "Summer school" and "Mini conferences"
    2. Exchange of official lecturers, young physicians and students
    3. Exchange of research techniques and Editorial Notes
    4. Public relations of the co-operation
    5. Library cooperation
    6. Joint symposia at different GERMAN / POLISH Medical Conferences

    There are currently advanced negotiations conducted on the signment of contracts on the cooperation between the Medical University of Bialystok and:

    • The Medical University of Kowno (Lithuania)
    • The Faculty of Medicine, Lund University (Sweden)
    • Center for Statistic Limburgs Universitair Centrum (Belgium)
